The Alternative Libraries @ Trent initiative is not limited only to those who launched the project!

Libraries that wish to join are expected to adhere to the following:

• Information resources must be freely available to the public in some form. This does not mean that you have to be a lending library! The only requirement is that people are able to access your resources onsite free of charge.
• You must be willing to catalogue materials - as ALTi is mostly volunteer staffed, we cannot guarantee help with your collection. We are, however, able to have someone train you and your volunteers and be available to answer questions.
• Extremely large libraries that are already catalogued elsewhere may not be able to participate due to technological restraints. Large libraries that wish to discuss linkages are encoruaged to contact us to discuss options.
• Understand that while there is no cost to list your materials on the ALTi server, there are limitations and there may be additional costs related to cataloguing depending on your choices (labelling books, for example).

Volunteers are also needed to help with the following aspects of ALTi:

• Cataloguing books! Our project partners have a lot of books and very few people. If you're able to donate some time to catalogue, let us know!
• Staff the libraries. Some of the participating libraries are open only due to volunteer hours - if you have an hour or two (or more!) to spare get in touch with us! Duties would include: shelving books, signing out books, helping people find books, and (if you're so inclined) cataloguing books!

Donors interested in supporting ALTi are welcome to help out in the following ways:

• Monetary donations to support the ongoing costs of running an internet server or to help pay for cataloguing supplies are always welcome. Directed donations made through Sadleir House may be eligible for tax receipts.
• Many of our project partners accept donations of books that are relevant to their collections. If you're interested in donating books, please contact us for more details.
