The Alternative Libraries @ Trent initiative started in 2005 as a joint project of Sadleir House, OPIRG, the Trent Central Student Association, and the Trent Women's Centre. The goal of the project was to raise awareness and provide increased access to the various information resources that exist at Trent University through the operation of an online searchable catalogue. To accomplish this, the project selected the open-source ILS Koha. Since 2005 the project has grown to include the Kawartha World Issues Centre (KWIC) and the Trent Centre for Community Based Education.
As of the beginning of 2014, the ALTi catalogue has over 8700 items listed with more being added everyday.
ALTi is managed and hosted by the Sadleir House Library.
